Japan

Tokyo

After a 14 hour flight from London, I arrived at Narita airport at 10am on a Sunday morning. I waited in line at immigration & customs, ready to hand over the form I had filled in on the flight and declare I had no weapons or narcotics while trying to keep myself awake. The whole process took around 30 minutes which was quicker than I expected. I guess this was my first experience of the Japanese's efficiency.
Once through customs I was set free into the controlled chaos of Japan.
I went straight to the information desk to find out about the discounted train ticket into Tokyo that was exclusive to foreigners and within 1 minuite, the ticket was in my hand and I was ¥1200 lighter (about £7) and was pointed in the right direction. On my way to the platform I was greeted by my first vending machine! I knew there would be plenty of these but seeing one within an hour of being in the country was a surprise. I immediately bought some grape juice for ¥100 (60p) and waited for my train.
